ABOUT
Despite being the grandchild of a valkyrie, Yrsa's only dipped briefly into Kaldheim, instead having been born on Ravnica to a member of the Procurement Assemblage, a misfit organization of criminally-inclined interdimensional travelers. Their early years were spent emulating a disinterested mother and desperately trying to prove they could do more than stand lookout during a job. Becoming a full-fledged member of the crew was all Yrsa ever aspired to and once it happened, life was pretty dang good, hopping between realms and having 'cool adventures' to boast about later on, even if they weren't particularly heroic. (It sure beat hanging around the Undercity.)

All of that changed when a routine plunder mission to Zendikar went south when the locals fought back. It left Yrsa stranded, alone, and difficult to locate in an everchanging realm. For the past couple years they've been taking ruin diving jobs from a local in order to get by and it's nothing short of a miracle that they aren't dead yet. When the Strixhaven letter unexpectedly arrived (a joke, right?), Yrsa didn't hesitate at the chance to finally get back to civilization, even if it did mean attending college.

appearance
Whether or not it's the light of Starnheim, Yrsa's eyes glow softly in the darkness and their hair doesn't lose its lustre no matter how long its been since the last time they bathed. There's also a cockiness to the way they carry themself, as if they don't actually believe death can touch them. Their skin is peppered with various scars - some forgotten piercings, some trophies from past jobs and plenty from yet another clumsy escape from death on Zendikar.

Prior to coming to Strixhaven, Yrsa dressed in a post-apocolyptic viking fusion of Ravnican and Kaldheim fashion regardless of what realm they were in, making it easy for more savvy folks to spot them as an interdimensional traveler (and not just a crazy person). They still often plait their hair in complex fashions.

abilities
cantrip magic Misty spectral effects, haunting sounds, and guidance from the spirits all hint that Yrsa is a descendant of a shepard of the dead. Vague omens are delivered via the many-layered whisperings of the dead, which Yrsa most often uses as a weak danger sense while navigating ruins and other dangerous locales. Those same whispers can pass along brief messages to someone nearby. Conjuration comes in plumes of mist, forming ghostly objects that melt away not long after they're summoned. Weapons conjured in this fashion may not be the most practical, but this stunt is typically done to dazzle or intimidate. In a similar vein, Yrsa can amplify those whispers into horrible screams in hopes of disorienting.
spell list Borrowed Knowledge: Draw on knowledge from the spirits of the past, giving yourself a talent, skill, or knowledge you don’t usually possess.

Knock: Magically unlock a door, chest, or other object that contains mundane or magical means to prevent access. This works on all mundane locks and some magical ones, although sufficiently powerful spells will hold against it.

Kinetic Jaunt: Empower your movement with magical kinetic energy, allowing you to move quickly, walljump, doublejump, and other impossible feats.
talents Brawling: Not an impractical skill to hone given they grew up in some of the worst streets of Ravnica, but Yrsa's desperation to prove to their disinterested mother that they weren't just an underfoot obligation led to picking a lot of fights with people bigger than them. (Just because they hadn't been born on Kaldheim didn't mean they couldn't throw a punch worthy of the skald's epics!) Eventually they won more fights than they lost. Once they were allowed to join the crew on jobs, Yrsa typically filled in as muscle.

Athletics: Jump, climb, swim. All that fun tomb raiding stuff. Yrsa's athletics skills were especially honed over the past couple years of trying to survive on Zendikar.
extra notes
πŸ‘» The Procurement Assemblage: Not an actual Ravnican guild, just a band of low-level criminals using a tongue-in-cheek name for their crew. Unofficially sponsored by Izzet League families to plunder resources or seek out artifacts for use in their research. Often picked up side jobs for New Capenna families. Raiders, smugglers, plunderers. If you need something moved across realms, they'll do it for a price. Members include: Sidrifa Eggjold, an Aasimar warrior/raider from Kaldheim. Ex-Members include: Yrsa Eggjold. πŸ’©

πŸ‘» Definitely never had to be rescued by their mother on jobs growing up.

πŸ‘» Struck up an unlikely friendship with Helmine Blackwater over years of crossing paths trading stories of their 'cool adventures' for actually cool inventions while the adults talked shady business. (Yrsa thinks Helmine is the smartest person ever, unfortunately.)

πŸ‘» Extensively took advantage of their phone a (dead) friend magic to actually find anything and survive in Zendikar's ruins. Look, they were never the brains of the crew.

πŸ‘» Has a pet rat companion creatively named Rat that they befriended while on Zendikar. It was lonely there, okay. :(

πŸ‘» Despite regular communication with the dead, is squeamish about corpses and bones - humanoid or otherwise.
